Rowan County gaining industrial development momentum with multiple large projects in the works
Industrial real estate trends have led to an explosion of the development of big buildings along interstates in the Charlotte market. Gaston County is beginning to see that momentum come its way with its proximity to Interstate 85. And Rowan County appears to be seeing similar activity in the area to the north of Charlotte.
Rod Crider, president of Rowan EDC, told the Charlotte Business Journal that developers are considering up to 6 million square feet of industrial development there. With several key projects in the works already, Crider is confident in where Rowan County stands in the market.
“We’re very well positioned because we have activity and interest at pretty much every I-85 exit in Rowan County right now,” Crider said.
Two projects currently in the works are hoping to capitalize on large sites close to I-85.
The Silverman Group, a development firm based in New Jersey, is planning 85 North Logistics Center in China Grove. The development site is located on N.C. Highway 152, just off Exit 68 of I-85. The first building there will be a speculative building of over 1 million square feet.
